As a newbie, some feelings wich could help me a lot to convince my friends to come here. Sorry for my english
1) Background not so dynamic.
Is Eve a sandbox game with PvP inside and not a PvP game with sandbox elements ? Some peoples like to be combatant, some peoples like to be farmer, but no combatant without farmer. If it is a real sandbox game, then all kind of peoples should be able to find a way to play it, including "carebears" (as opposed to "psychopathic genocidal maniacs").
Eve Universe is about humans expanding in space. If no alien invasion/full wars between majors factions, civilized areas (high-sec) should slowly expand and the "Borders" (low-sec) should move further and discover new territories, new resources, new dangers.
Civilization is about making money and they really dislike all money sink : disorders, pirates, terrorists. Such peoples should not be allowed in civilized areas without very good false papers and if they make to much damages, they should be eliminated (and if eliminating them physically is not possible, go after their resources). But security cost money, so civilized areas like taxes.
Security = Taxes. Fredoom = Risk.
Yes, I like Mike Resnick a lot ... ie "Santiago".
2) To much external tools, to much paperwork.
If I want to fit a vessel, I want first to try different configurations and then have my skills list/buy list wich I can directly use in my skills list queue and market window. We are in the future and we can't use daemons ? External tools exists, but why is this not integrated in the game (you know, while sitting on my couch in a station) ?
Same when I work with my map to prepare a trip and want to know what happen the last 24hours, where are hotspots, ...
I worked two days only to configure my overview windows (with the help of an other external source). Didn't played a lot in this time.
3) A hardcore interface
While flying, i have a drone window, an overview window, a chat window, a targeting window, a peoples & places window (try to find out how to put my places bookmarks in my overview window) and a scanning window. Like the vessel interface, but all this windows don't allow me to enjoy the "spacecraft" sensation. Perhaps letting stacks different windows as we stack different windows with a browser, using tabs and blinking tabs titles with alerts we could set ? Perhaps let us compose the content of windows from different elements or allowing interfaces mods from players ?
Most reading (ie EveUnivesity) give excellent advices on how to use interface, but it seems the game don't take them in account. |
